Misc Dog Food Info
Below
are foods I have used in the past
and
the reasons I don't use them

I
use Royal Canin but the German Shepard brand was a
bad
choice for my Bernese Mountain Dogs. This food
does
not say for Large Breed Dogs. Several of the older
dogs
began to drastically become over weight
they
dropped weight after selecting the Large Breed label

Nutro
Natural Choice Lamb and Rice Meal Formula does not
have corn
or wheat which can cause allergies.
so
this seemed like a wise choice but for a large breed dog food
it
either lacks digestive enzymes or has poor digestibility
Compared
to Royal Canin for large breed dogs or the German Shepard
formula
my dogs consumed 2-3 times as much, feces was 3 times as large
and
feces clean up was 3 times as much.
40lb
bag costs $38

Life's
Abundance is only purchased online
This
food is too high in protein but I used it because
it
was safe from the Chinese melamine additive
no
wheat no corn, very expensive and had the same problems as with
the
Nutro, no digestive enzymes and poorly digestible food.
food
consumption was high feces were very large in size
and
feces clean up was 3 times that of Royal Canin.

40 lb costs $50

Iams
Science
diet
All
of my cats and dogs threw up repeatedly on these foods
I
had read it was due to the artificial preservatives.
many
breeders have said these to be terrible products.
The
only reason you see them at the vets office is
because
they bring very large profits for the vet.
Without
mentioning the food in the waiting room
ask
your vet point blank what he feeds his dogs.
It
would be interesting to see if he even uses the food he endorses.
In
the past I have used the premium Purina
dog
foods, I don't remember the results but I am
sure
if I had better results then I would have cycled
back
into it.
